AFCON U-20: Flying Eagles eyeing Podium Finish- Bosso

Coach Ladan Bosso has vowed that after the Flying Eagles will fight to finish as the third best team at the U20 AFCON after they failed to reach the final.

Seven-time champions Nigeria take on Tunisia in the losers’ final by 3pm today inside the Cairo International Stadium.

Bosso has now said his team will give everything to finish on the podium at the expense of the North Africans.

“We have to work on the psyche of the boys (after a 1-0 loss in the semifinal to The Gambia), forget the semifinal loss and fight,” he said ahead of the classification game Second place is not good enough, but third position is better than fourth position. We are prepared to get this.

“A section of Nigerians may not be comfortable with this, but I know what we went through.

”The coach continued: “The target was to first qualify for the World Cup and we achieved that.And of course we wanted to get something additional, but unfortunately we did not get it right.”

“We were not lucky against Gambia, but we want to fight against Tunisia so that we could take something back to Nigeria,” added Sweden-based defender Abel Ogwuche.
