The General Manager, Ondo state Sports Council, Mr Henry Babatunde has charged four Ondo state AIONIAN brotherhood members to target gold medals as the fiesta kickstarts tomorrow.
In a statement signed by him in Akure and made available to newsmen,Henry Babatunde enjoined the athletes to represent the state well.
“AIONIAN Festival is one of the biggest School Sports Festivals in Nigeria”
” We are happy that four of our Schools are yearly participants”
” We want to remind you that you are not representing your schools alone but the whole state”
” We urge you to target gold medals and make it to the podium”
The AIONIAN Sports festival which began in 1931 was founded to encourage brotherhood and academic development among 12 selected secondary schools in the old Western Region.
The participating schools are Abeokuta Grammar School, Ijebu Ode Grammar School, Egbado College, Ilaro, Remo Secondary School, Sagamu, Ibadan Grammar School, Ondo Boys High School.
Others are Imade College, Owo, Ondo State, Manuwa Memorial Grammar School, Iju-Odo, Ondo State, Victory College, Ikare, Ondo State, Oduduwa College, Ile Ife, Osun State, Ilesa Grammar School and Gbongan-Ode Omu Anglican High School, Gbongan, Osun State.
