Alex Iwobi stretchered off in Everton’s FA Cup loss at Manchester United

Super Eagles’ star and Everton midfielder Alex Iwobi was visibly emotional as he was stretchered off following a strong challenge from Tyrell Malacia during Everton’s FA Cup clash with Manchester United on Friday night.

He was in tears as he was being stretchered off after suffering a nasty injury.

He was left clutching his ankle as he rolled around in pain following a strong tackle from Manchester United’s Tyrell Malacia during the third round FA Cup.

Iwobi had been leading a Toffees counter attack down the right flank before Malacia’s desperate challenge halted the move and left his opponent worse for wear.

Everton captain Seamus Coleman was quick to call medical staff onto the pitch to attend to the Nigeria international as the extent of his injury became clear.

Following a pause in play, Iwobi was carried off the pitch in a stretcher and could be seen in tears from the pain and extent of the injury.

Immediately after the incident, Everton fan and former boxing world champion Tony Bellew offered his support for Iwobi.
