Aiteo champions Bayelsa United will begin their Federations cup defence against non league side Light International Fc of Nembe.
The Prosperity Boys won the trophy last year with a comfortable 4-1 thrashing of Dreams Football Academy at the Samson Siasia Stadium, Yenagoa.In the draws conducted at the NUJ Press Center in Yenagoa will see Odi based side Dream Boys Football Academy square off against Prosperity Cup champions Eternal Grace Ministry, EGM FC.
Rich Destiny Fc of Biogbolo will battle Afini Fc of Amarata in what will be described as Yenagoa derby while last year’s semi finalist Crusader Fc of Peretorugbene will take on 2019 finalist Abaye Fc Koluama.
The winner of Bayelsa United and Light International Fc will face either Rich Destiny Fc or Afini Fc, Dream Boys FA and EGM FC will battle the winner of Crusader Fc vs Abaye in a yet to be determined venue.
In the female draws reigning women’s Premier Football League Champions Bayelsa Queens were drawn bye as they wait for the tie between Crystal Stars Fc and new Golden stars Fc.
The final of the Federation Cup will come up on the 19th of March at the Samson Siasia Stadium.
In a remark, Chairman of the Bayelsa State Football Association, Bar Porbeni Ogun represented by his vice chairman Mr Fubara Owonaro, urged the eight participating teams to abide by the rules of the game, pointing out that the FA was committed to hosting a hitch free tournament.
He noted that the essence of accommodating only eight teams was due to the directives of the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF to meet up its international calendar.
