The defending champions of Ondo state football league Zion Warriors of Ondo were defeated Yesterday by Aso Football Academy to win the maiden edition of BetKing Ondo Football Tourney.
Oyeniyi Oyewumi put Zion Warriors ahead while a brilliant free-kick drew ASO FA level
ASO FA went on to win 3-0 on penalties.
The maiden edition of BetKing Ondo Football Tourney was organized to uncover hidden football talents in the state.
Oyeniyi Oyewumi who was thorn in the flesh of Aso Football Academy had missed a glorious attempt.
While speaking at the grand finale,the LOC chairman Ambassador Henry Abiodun said the football tournament is a Scouting tournament for the state-owned team Sunshine Stars of Akure.
” We have selected tournament best XI who would face Sunshine Stars’ trialists in the next few days”
Corroborating Henry Abiodun’s assertion,Ondo state commissioner for Sports Bamidele Ologun the given room for Sunshine Stars to select talented footballers for the upcoming season.
” As you have known that Ondo state is blessed with talented footballers”.
” We would made available best legs from this tournament for Sunshine Stars next season”
Dignitaries who graced the grand finale were assistant secretary of NFCA Mansur Abdullahi, Chairpersons of Ondo state coaches association and Ondo state Referees’ association Tayo Onilude and Bola Sekiteri respectively.
Others were Team manager of Sunshine Queens Seun Betiku, assistant coach of Sunshine Stars Akin Olowookere, CEO Tubaba Football Scouting Academy Network Nigeria, Ayokunle Oluwatope amongst others.
Eight teams competed at the maiden edition of BetKing Ondo Football Tourney.
