Manchester United have confirmed they have terminated Cristiano Ronaldo’s contract “with immediate effect”.
This was revealed in a terse statement posted on their social media handles.
“Cristiano Ronaldo is to leave Manchester United by mutual agreement, with immediate effect.
“The club thanks him for his immense contribution across two spells at Old Trafford,” it read.
