Fifth-placed Premier League side Chelsea will be aiming to put one hand on first place in Group E when they travel to Austria to meet with RB Salzburg as the Blues have lost just once in the Champions League so far.
Chelsea’s sole loss came in what ended up being Thomas Tuchel’s final nail in the coffin of his Chelsea career, as Dinamo Zagreb defeated the 2021 Champions League winners 1-0.
Just a week later, however, Graham Potter was in charge of Chelsea and drew 1-1 with Salzburg in his debut. Seven games later, Potter remains unbeaten after a draw with Manchester United over the weekend.
Raheem Sterling scored for Chelsea in the draw with Salzburg, as Noah Okafor scored an equaliser for the away side that day.
Now back on home soil, the Austrian Bundesliga leaders will be confident in getting the job done with another sensational start to the league season.
Salzburg may just be two points clear at the top of the table, but with just one loss in 13 games in the Austrian Bundesliga, they do now find themselves on an 11-game winning run in the league, as they lost to SK Strum Graz 2-1 back at the end of July.
The club have also scored the most goals in the league this season with 29 and let in eight goals in the division too – this is the fewest amount across the top flight of Austria.
Chelsea were unlucky not to get the win against Man United on Saturday, as Casemiro scored with seconds left in the game.
Combine this with their 0-0 draw with Brentford just prior to this, it now means Chelsea are on a two-game winless run since beating Aston Villa 2-0.
Nevertheless, Potter remains unbeaten with the Blues, having also defeated the Serie A champions home and away by scoring five goals and not letting in a single one.
Salzburg drew with Sturm Graz again over the weekend, which now means in all the five times they have dropped points in the league this season, they have been responsible for two of them.
They did, however, smash Flyeralarm Admira 6-1 away from home just before this.
