Chairman of the interim management committee (IMC) Honourable Gbenga Elegbeleye has pledged to offer more financial support to NPFL Clubs despite redeeming the initial 10 million naira take off grant promised each club ahead of the start of the new NPFL season.
He made the promise on Thursday at Sandralia Hotel during the public presentation of take off grant to all NPFL Clubs in Abuja, sportgister.com.ng reports.
While speaking, the former Lawmaker said the 10 million naira dolled out to each club is in fulfilment of their promise that will help alleviate their financial burdens, so as to enable them start the league without much stress.
In a bid to chart a new course for the Nigerian domestic league, Honourable Elegbeleye said the IMC will continue to stand behind clubs through their corporate partners, assuring they’ll be an additional financial bankrolling for teams as the league progresses.
Elegbeleye equally acknowledged the efforts of the NFF President Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau and the entire board of the Nigeria Football Federation for their constant support in helping the IMC to function without much migraine, and assured of a better dispensation in Nigerian football.
“We’re here today because we are about to start the football season, expectedly on Sunday January 8 and in fulfilment of our promise to the clubs”
