Remo Stars forward Issac James has revealed the main reasons why he completed the move to joined the club from relegated Nasarawa United.
The forward who scored on his debut for the Ikenne based-club in their 2-1 victory over Enyimba International, in the first Group A clash, in the just concluded Naija Super 8 and featured in three games for the Daniel Ogunmodede as the finished runner up to Sporting Lagos.
While speaking in an exclusive interview with the Sportgisterng.com the pacy forward says that Remo Stars has been a club he love for a long time.
” Remo Stars has been a club I love for a long time,” Said Issac.
” They quality of players and especially the coach (Daniel Ogunmodede) it’s a good avenue to show my talent and also to improved more as a forward. So when the offer came with other clubs, I didn’t think twice at all.
The Benue-Born forward also praised his new teammates and coaches for making he to feel at home since he joined the club during the summer transfer window.
” They’ve been phenomenal, accommodating and welcoming they didn’t make me to feel like a newcomer same with the coaches as well. This is one big family and that is how I have been treated,” Issac explained.
” Other environment hasn’t been bad too, Nasarawa United wasn’t bad at all, but in Remo Stars, it is better, maybe because of a lot of positive factors actually.
Issac, however insisted that it was fate that caused Nasarawa United to be relegated from the NPFL last season and also believe that the team will make a return to the Top-flight league soon.
” Yes, I’ll say its fate, because nobody wants to intentionally relegate, we had the quality and I think it’s only bound,” He said.
” Yes, I know they will surely come back to the next season, but I also wish the whole team and coaches best of luck in the upcoming Nigeria National League (NNL) season, and a successful return to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) next season.
Issac had an impressive game as Remo Stars lost 4-2 on penalties to Sporting Lagos, in the final of the Naija Super 8 tournament, says he was not really disappointed at all on how the game went for his side.
” I wasn’t disappointed at all, because we played our hearts out, but we were just unlucky not to come out with a win, though it was an outstanding performance from us no doubt but poor officiating was part of the reason why we lost.”
” But regardless I wasn’t disappointed we didn’t let the one goal deficit get to us, we pushed and got a goal which was ruled offside. But we continued and got another that brought us back into the game, but if the first goal had stood no doubt we would have gotten the second to clinch the victory but the referee had other plans.”
The forward urged his fans to stay positively and promise not to let them down in the upcoming season.
” By God’s grace, good football, goals and great achievements. I will try my best not let the fans down and God supporting me, I will definitely make them proud.”
Issac James will be expecting to lead the Remo Stars frontline when the return for the 2023/24 Football season as they prepare for their second appearances in the CAF inter-club competitions but this time in the CAF Champions League.
