The Flying Eagles’ next opponent at the 2023 FIFA U20 World Cup is now known following the conclusion of matches in Group A, B and D.
Nigeria will be facing Argentina in a round of 16 clash at the Estadio San Juan del Bicentenario, San Juan on May 31, with kickoff scheduled for 2200 hours.
Los Cebollitas are the most successful nation in FIFA U20 World Cup history, winning six titles in 1979, 1995, 1997, 2001, 2005, 2007, and the team has produced great players such as Diego Maradona, Lionel Messi, Sergio Aguero and Juan Román Riquelme.
The Argentina U20 squad is coached by ex-Liverpool midfielder Javier Mascherano, who represented the South Americans in the 2003 edition of the FIFA U20 World Cup.
Flying Eagles of Nigeria finished third in group D having defeated Italy and Dominican republic and lost to Brazil.
Flying Eagles’ last Appearance in the final was ended by Lionel Messi-inspired Argentine team in 2005.
