Huge blow for Tottenham as key player is a doubt for North London Derby clash vs Arsenal

Tottenham return to action in the Premier League this weekend, with Spurs kicking off Matchweek 9 with an exciting showdown against Arsenal on Saturday.

Yes, not only will fans be treated to the North London Derby this round, but this always-heated encounter is the earliest fixture. What a way to welcome back club football straight after the international break!

Conte’s men are undefeated this season, a feat only Manchester City boast as well, and could go top of the table with a win at the Emirates Stadium, should Guardiola’s men slip up against Manchester United. Unfortunately, Spurs have been rocked with a huge blow for their highly-anticipated trip.

The visitors could be without one of their best players when lock horns with the current English top-flight leaders. That man is none other than Dejan Kulusevski, the sensational January signing that has taken to life in the Premier League like a duck to water.

And to no one’s surprise, it is the international break at fault, with the former Juventus man playing for the Swedish national team in both of their UEFA Nations League fixtures – a 1-1 draw with Slovenia and a 4-1 loss to Serbia.

Unfortunately for Tottenham, the winger returned to London with a tight hamstring and is now a doubt for Saturday’s game after undergoing a scan on Wednesday (as per Football London). If he is unavailable, this will be a huge blow for Kane and Co. as Kulusevski has been a revelation since joining, contributing to 17 goals in 25 appearances – 11 assists and six goals.

Additionally, Tottenham have historically struggled at the Emirates Stadium, winning only once in their last 29 trips to the Gunners. Nonetheless, after signing Richarlison from Everton for a large fee, Conte’s side will have another capable player ready to deputize
