18th June 2023 has been set aside as the kick off date for the 2023 Edition of one of the most Prestigious Football Tournament in North Central Nigeria, the Igala Nations Cup.
A Statement by the Director Technical Of the Prestigious Competition, Coach Abubakar Kamar Olachene On Wednesday 17th May 2023 said it’s imperative to fix the date for the Competition this early which will inturn avail participating teams the opportunity to prepare adequately and well ahead of time.
The Football Fiesta which is in its 7th Edition has helped in discovering raw talents which led to the formation of IGALA UNITED FC from the Nine Local Government Areas that make up Kogi Eastern Senatorial District with Some of these talents playing already at both national and international level.
” All arrangements have been concluded to put up a Formidable Seventh Edition this year, We have decided to fix the date well ahead of time so as to ensure early and adequate preparation by Participating Local Government Areas ” Director Technical Of the Competition, Coach Abubakar Kamar Olachene told Sport Writers.
” Since this Competition started Seven (7) years ago, we’ve not looked back. We have continued to help these young boys shape and sharpen their football skills through the organization of this tournament and other Sports related developmental programmes across the land “
” Just as we’ve continued steadily in the organization of past editions, the 7th edition will even be more better as we have also resolved to invite scouts from outside the State and beyond to come and see the arrays of talent that we are blessed with “
B2K Fc of Igalamela who defeated Royal Fc of Ankpa in a pulsating final of the 6th Edition last year in Idah went home with a whooping Three hundred thousand naira (#500,000) as prize money for winning the 6th edition courtesy an illustrious Son of the land High Chief Peter Iduh.
Dr Victor Alewo Adoji gifted Royal Fc of Ankpa Two hundred thousand naira (#300,000) and Two hundred thousand naira (#200,000) to Young Africans of Ikanekpo as Prize money for first and second runners up respectively.
