Former MFM FC, Heartland FC gaffer Fidelis IIechukwu has been unveiled as the head coach of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) giants Rangers International, on a two years deal.
The Flying Anteoples appointed the young tactician to replaced Abdul Maikaba, who left the team after the expiration of his contract at the end of the season.
While speaking with the journalists during the unveiling, IIechukwu reacted on why he left plateau United to sign for Rangers Int’l as head coach.
” Yes, my contract with Plateau United had expired at the end of the season,” said IIechukwu.
” But, the club management also brought new contract on my table, but I had a great relationship with the general manager of the team but he left the club.”
” However, also Plateau United haven’t announced the new general manager of the team so I decided not to sign a new contract with the team until I know the general manager of the club because it is good to know who you are working with, a team without a pilot can’t succeed, that is what a general manager means to a team.”
“So, because of that I refused to renewed my contract with Plateau United.” He explained.
The young tactician Stating that he is honoured to be at the club, because Rangers International is a prestigious club in Nigeria.
“Also, am not going to do the job alone, it’s going to be very difficult without your assistance and support (Club management)”.
“Both the good and the critic’s is on my table, but we will agree and disagree because we want the best for Rangers.”
“I have accepted all the terms and conditions with humility and understanding to make sure we take rangers to where it belongs, ” IIechukwu concludes.
Ilechukwu spent two season at Plateau United, also led the Peace Boys to a second-place finish in his first season.
Rangers International will look to return back to CAF Inter-club competitions after they missed out on the confederations cup when they lost 1-0 to Bendel Insurance, in the Federation Cup final last month in Asaba, Delta state.
