Members of the Kogi State Football Normalization Committee met today 19th July 2023 at the Kogi State football Association office, Confluence Stadium Lokoja to begin the process of charting a new cause for election into the 21 Local Councils and the Football Association in the State.
Chairman of the Normalization Committee, Honourable Sadiq Abubakar who briefed Newsmen after the meeting said this is the second time since their inauguration they are meeting to begin fine tuning the process of conducting elections into the 21 Local Football Council across the state and the State football association.
Honourable Sadiq who was flanked by other members of the Committee said.
” We are saddled with the responsibility of ensuring that free, fair and acceptable elections are conducted into the various Local Football Councils and the State football association and here we are to speedily ensure that this responsibility is pursued to a logical conclusion “
” We met today to discuss key salient issues which include designing the timetable for the forthcoming elections and I’m absolutely happy to inform Football Stakeholders and soccer loving Kogites that we are making progress. Very shortly, we will release the timetable for the elections as well as other modalities to ensure a smooth transition “
Honourable Sadiq Abubakar also assured the football fraternity in the State that no one is going to be left behind in the drive towards a smooth and rancour free electoral process. He said all Football Stakeholders in the state like Coaches Association, Kogi State Referees Council and other relevant bodies in the business of the round leather game in the State will all be carried along in the scheme of things.
Other Members of the Committee who were present at the meeting alongside the Chairman include the Vice Chairman of the Committee, Coach Abubakar Kamar Olachene, Chairman Kogi State Referee Council and Retired FIFA badged Referee Mr Abel Baba, and Chairman Lokoja Referee’s Society Alhaji Yahaya Ali (Keller). Others include Honourable Mustapha Allah-Dey and the Committee’s Secretary, Mr David Ogazuma.
