Kolkata Hit Second-Highest IPL Total in Win

The Kolkata Knight Riders set a new record in the Indian Premier League by scoring 272-7 in their 20 overs against the Delhi Capitals in Visakhapatnam. The Kolkata Knight Riders won the match by 106 runs, as Delhi Capitals were all out for 166. This was Kolkata’s third consecutive win in the 2024 IPL season, which places them at the top of the 10-team table.

Sunil Narine, who was playing his 501st T20 match, led the way for Kolkata by scoring 85 off 39 balls. This was the highest T20 score of his career. Angkrish Raghuvanshi, a teenage debutant, also made a significant contribution by scoring 54 runs. Andre Russell and Rinku Singh also contributed to Kolkata’s huge total by smashing 41 off 19 balls and 26 off eight balls, respectively.

Kolkata’s total of 272-7 is the second-highest in IPL history, just five runs short of Sunrisers Hyderabad’s record total of 277-3. Rishabh Pant top-scored for Delhi with 55 runs, but it was not enough to prevent the team from suffering a thumping defeat.

Vaibhav Arora was the standout bowler for Kolkata, taking 3-27 in Delhi’s reply. Kolkata’s huge total came just a week after Hyderabad posted a record 277-3, breaking the previous IPL best of 263-5 set by Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2013.
