Sporting Lagos continued on their impressive run in the tournament as they defeated Katsina United 1-0 in a Group A rescheduled Matchday 1 encounter, on Thursday.
The match held at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Lagos saw the Lagos based club, who secured an impressive 2-1 win over Remo Stars in their last game took the lead, in the 37 minutes after Silas Nenrot stroke a delightful volley from outside the box to put the ball in the back of the net.
However, Sporting Lagos continued to dominate the possession of the ball when Nenrot had a clear opportunity to double the lead but his long range effort hits over the crossbar, as they went into the half time break with a 1-0 lead.
In the second half, Katsina United tired to pressed on in other to get back in the game with plenty opportunities coming in their way but the Sporting defenders stood to secured a vital 1-0 victory to finished top in Group A.
With the victory, Sporting Lagos will now face Akwa United in the first semi final clash (2pm) while Lobi Stars will play tackle with Remo Stars (4:30pm) both games will be played tomorrow, at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan.
