Napoli tasted their second defeat and first in the Serie A current season on Thursday when they lost to Lazio at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.
Lazio brought an end to Napoli’s eight-match winning streak with a surprise 1-0 victory courtesy of Matias Vecino’s second half goal.
The Partenopei were frustrated by a ‘firewall’ built by their hosts as Coach Maurizio Sarri was keen to inflict only a second league defeat of the season upon his former team
Late chances did come Napoli’s way though with Victor Osimhen hitting the bar and Kim Min-Jae’s rebound brilliantly saved by Ivan Provedel.
Despite of the defeat, Napoli still maintained their top spot on the log with 65 points as the victory for Lazio saw them displacing Inter Milan on the second position.
Meanwhile, It’s also blank show for Nigeria’s Victor Osimhen who has so far helped Napoli with his impressive run of goals. He is the current top scorer of the league with 19 goals
