Team Nigeria secured the trophy at the 2023 Africa Zone 3 Volleyball Championship for U-21 Women in Niamey, Niger. The girls went through the entire tournament without dropping a single set to be crowned champions.
Having departed Nigeria for neighbouring country Niger, Team Nigeria made light work of rivals Ghana in their first match, winning 3-0 (25-11, 25-15, 25-8). They repeated the trick in their second match against hosts Niger, again claiming a 3-0 (25-4, 25-11, 25-4) win. Their third match was against Benin Republic, and they swept them aside as well with a dominant 3-0 (25-15, 25-15, 25-9) win to secure a rematch against Ghana in the final.
The final was one-sided like the previous meeting between both sides as Team Nigeria prevailed with a 3-0 (25-10, 25-15, 25-10) win to secure the title in Niger. Aliyat Usman was voted as the MVP for the final.
