Chairman, Nigeria Premier Football League Gbenga Elegbeleye has condoled the family of Tayo Oginni over the death of their patriarch.
Tayo Oginni aka Kalibobo, was a former footballer and retired Public Relations Officer of Housing Corporation, Akure who died on Saturday during an illness.
Describing the deceased an accomplished footballer, coach and administrator, Elegbeleye recalled his role as Coordinator of Ondo State Football Agency (OSFODEC), an Initiative of ex-Ondo State Governor Olusegun Agagu.
OSFODEC with Elegbeleye as Vice-chairman produced Godfrey Oboabona, Dayo Ojo, Abe Sunday, Uzube Anazaemba among other footballers who played top flight soccer in Nigeria and for the national teams.
“Kalibobo was a committed individual whose contribution was one of the reasons we got it right at OSFODEC. He was one of the officials of Rising Stars during their giant killing runs in the national FA Cup competition,” he said.
The NPFL boss prays for the repose of the soul of the deceased. “Just as many of others, I would have loved him around beyond now but it has pleased God to call him home. My prayer is for him to enjoy eternal bliss with His maker.”
The late Tayo Oginni, a committed defensive player was a team mate of Muda Lawal and Segun Odegbami at Housing Corporation FC, Ibadan before joining the Ijapo Builders, Housing FC in Akure after the creation of states.
