Lobi Stars of MAKURDI continued the impressive start to the season by defeating Sunshine Stars of Akure by one goal to nil.
Prior to this fixture, Sunshine Stars have not tasted a defeat having drawn three and won one.
The match played at new Jos Stadium saw both sides sitting deep in the first half and absorbed pressure.
The second half restarted as the home side piled pressure on the visitors in order to find a breakthrough but it was thwarted by resolute Sunshine Stars’ defence.
The breakthrough came late on as Joseph Atule’s effort was blocked by Ogbuagu Emmanuel who was subsequently given the marching order.
Joseph Atule successfully converted the spotkick to give the home the maximum points.
Lobi Stars have garnered twelve points from five games while Sunshine Stars are on six points from the same number of games
Sunshine Stars are billed to face Bayelsa United in Akure on Sunday.
