NPFL Match-day 7 review: Sunshine Stars Win Again As 3SC, Bendel Insurance Share Spoils in Ibadan

At the Akure Township Stadium, two first-half goals from Udoh Ekrette and Samson Olasupo ensured that Sunshine Stars secured a comfortable 2-0 win over Niger Tornadoes in a Group B game on Sunday.

The Owena Whales have now won their last two games without conceding, while Tornadoes remain without a win in their last four games.Enyimba defeated Gombe United 2-1 away at the Pantami Stadium on Saturday, as they recorded their second away win in Group A of the Nigeria Premier Football League this season.

Yusuf Taiye put Gombe United infront in the 12th minute, but the People’s Elephant rallied back with Elijah Akanni equalising from an incredible free-kick in the 35th minute, and Emeka Obioma scored the winner Enyimba in the 53rdminute.

At the New Jos Stadium, Nasarawa United recorded their first win of the season after beating Kwara United 2-0 on Saturday. King Osanga put the Solid Miners ahead in the 10th minute, while Chinedu Ohanachom added the second goal two minutes after the break.

At the Lakan Salami Stadium in Ibadan, Shooting Stars rallied back from two goals down to draw 2-2 against Bendel Insurance on Sunday. Imade Osehenkhoe put Insurance ahead in the first minute of the game, and Ismael Seriki doubled the lead seven minutes before the break.

Shooting Stars pulled a goal back through Malomo Ayodeji in the 43rd minute, and Olufemi Opeoluwa leveled for 3SC 25 minutes from time.After seven games, Insurance remain the only unbeaten club in the extended NPFL this season.

They top Group A with 17 points, while the Oluyole Warlord have only recorded nine points from seven games.In Ikenne, Remo Stars dropped points at home for the first time this season after they were held to a 1-1 draw by former champions Plateau United. Segun Olalere opened scoring for the hosts, while Ibrahim Mustapha equalised for Plateau United two minutes before the hour mark.

Enugu Rangers recorded their second win of the season after a narrow 1-0 win against Doma United. Chidera Ezeh netted the decisive goal from the spot seven minutes from time.El-kanemi Warriors of Maiduguri played a 1-1 draw against former champions Akwa United on Sunday.

Junior Agnaza’s 85th-minute strike earned a share of point for the home team after Cyril Olisema gave Akwa United a lead in the 45th minute.
