Efforts by Wikki Tourists fc to get it’s first win in the current Nigeria Professional Football League #npfl22/23 season was shattered today after loosing to Rivers United by 2goals to nil.

The match day 5 played at the Adokiye Amaesimaka stadium in Portharcourt saw the introduction of some new players in the WIkki Tourists team who gave a good account of themselves.

Amah Chibundu and Mohammed Yusuf played their hearts along side other team mates putting a very impressive performance.

Rivers United got it’s first goal in the 26′ via a free kick by Duru which caught Wikki goalkeeper Galadima off guard.

The early goal did not demoralized the Bauchi elephants as they kept on fighting for an equalizer which they could not get ending the first half on that note.

Six minutes into the second half Amah Chibundu benefited from a Corner kick from the left and headed in an equalizer for WIkki Tourists but the second assistant referee raised his flag for an offside.

There was a little protest by Wikki Tourists players about the disallowed goal but it was not successful as the centre referee ordered for the continuetion of the game.

WIkki Tourists players kept their fighting Spirit alive searching for an equaliser until in the 62nd minutes when a penalty was awarded to Rivers United making the score line 2-0.

All efforts to get even a consolation goal was thwarted by the Rivers United defence ensuring that the visitors did not cause any havoc.

On the expiration of the two added minutes the final whistle was blown at 90’+2′.

WIkki Tourists next game will be at home against Rangers International of Enugu on Sunday 5/2/23 in Bauchi.
