NPFL:Red hot Munir Idris hits Double Again, As Tornadoes Puts Abia Warriors To The Sword

By Oyerinde Femi

Sensational Niger Tornadoes winger, Munir Idris, who is arguably the hottest player in the league currently, hit the double, in back to back games, to put his team in pole position for a “Top 3” finish, as his second half brace and David Okoromi’s clever goal earned Tornadoes a decent win against the visitors.

Abia Warriors enjoyed dominance in the first half as they forced the hosts to goalless 45 minutes.

Niger Tornadoes however came out smoking in the second half in search of goals with several incursions into the opponents end, pressure paid off when a Warriors defender committed a punishable foul inside the area and the referee pointed to the spot as Minir Idris stepped out and converted the resulting kick to break the deadlock on the 54th minute to put his team in front.

Two minutes after the first goal, Waheed Adebayo sweetly played a well tailored pass that meet waiting Munir Idris who was at the edge of the box and fired a low grounder that beat the goalkeeper to double the lead and made it a successive doubles after last week’s brace against Rangers to reach five goals so far this season.

Tornadoes striker David Okoromi cleverly snatched the third goal of the game on the 76th minute after capitalizing on Warriors defensive howler to coolly slot home.

Okoromi joined Munir Idris in reaching a combined double digits as the duo have now scored 10 goals, 5 each, so far this season.

The win means Niger Tornadoes are now on 23 points, just 3 points adrift of group leaders Lobi Stars and stayed on fourth position behind Doma United 25 points and Rivers United who are on 23 with two games at hand.
