OLEGACY GETS DYNAMIC FC REVENGE AS 2023 PST. UMO ENO EASTER UNITY CUP COMPETITION GETS UNDERWAY

2022 runners-up Olegacy FC defeated Dynamic FC 4-0 in the opening game of the 2023 Pst. Umo Eno Easter Unity Cup Competition.

The opening ceremony of the 2023 Pst. Umo Eno Easter Unity Cup Competition took place at the Practice pitch of the Nest of Champions, Uyo on Wednesday April 5, 2023.

The opening ceremony was graced by the MD Eyotech Nig. Ltd. represented by Hon. Joseph Bassey, Ex-Nigeria International Vincent Enyeama represented by his Elder brother Brendan Enyeama, Commissioner 2 Ethical and Attitudinal Reorientation Commission Mr Tommy Enodien, National President of the Grassroots Sports Federation of Nigeria and tournament initiator Hon. John Ekpenyong, Lagos based Football scout Princewill Johnny, Chairman of the Local Organizing Committee Comrade Ita Peters, members of the LOC and a host of other football stakeholders and fans from within and outside Akwa Ibom State.

CEREMONIAL KICK-OFF
The ceremonial kick-off was taken by Chief Eyo Edet, MD Eyotech Nig. Ltd.

That responsibility was undertaken by Chief Eyo Edet’s representative at the opening ceremony, Hon. Joseph Bassey.

THE MATCH
Defending Champions Dynamic FC took to the turf vs Olegacy FC in a repeat of the final match of the 2022 edition.

Olegacy FC were fired up for the contest and took the lead 7minutes into the game.

Godwin Ekanem fired Olegacy FC in front with a belter from 35-yard out that left the opposition goalie stuck in one spot.

Both teams struggled in vain search for another goal for the remainder of the first half.

In the second half, a combination of poor goalkeeping and dynamic attacking efforts by the Olegacy FC players led to three second half goals.

Ben Divine scored the second goal in the 48th minute before Godwin Ekanem bagged his brace in the 62nd minute for 3-0. Joseph Eberechi added the 4th goal in the 82nd minute to crown a 4-0 mauling of Dynamic FC.

WHAT NEXT

With the successful opening ceremony today, the stage is set for the remaining matches of the 2023 Pst. Umo Eno Unity Cup Competition which will take place at two designated centers, the Ikot Oku Ubo Secondary School for Group B, C, D and Onna Stadium for Group A matches.

16-team drawn in 4-groups will participate in the 2023 edition of the Pst. Umo Eno Unity Cup Competition with action packed fixtures until the grand-finale on Monday April 10, 2023.

The 2023 edition is tagged ” Victory Tournament ” to celebrate the victory of Pst. Umo Eno at the March 18 Gubernatorial election in Akwa Ibom State.
