Barcelona Femeni are on course to creating history, having qualified for another UEFA Champions League final. The Catalans beat Chelsea 2-1 on aggregate in the semi-finals of this season’s tournament.
They will face one of Arsenal or Wolfsburg in the final. Currently, that tie is at 2-2, with the second leg set to go ahead at Meadow Park on Monday
This will be Barcelona’s third consecutive appearance in the UCL final, a feat only achieved by Olympique Lyonnais in the past in the competition, who have done it on two different occasions.
The French side beat Barça last season in the final 1-3, stopping them from going two-in-two. The blaugranes did win their maiden UCL just two seasons ago, though, beating Chelsea 4-0 in the final.
Barcelona have also been boosted by the return of Ballon d’Or winner and captain Alexia Putellas, who has missed the last nine months due to an ACL injury. While the Spaniard did not come off the bench against Chelsea in the second leg, she is expected to play a part in the final.
