The Green Falcons for Saudi Arabia came from behind to shock pre-tournament hopefuls Argentina in the opening match of Group C at the ongoing FIFA World Cup.

The Argentines took the lead through captain Lionel Messi when he converted from the spot as early as the 10th minute. The Albicelestes had a hat-trick of offside calls kept the scoreline respectable for the Green Falcons of Saudi Arabia.

The Saudi Arabian players withstood waves of attack by Ángel Di María, Lautaro Martínez and Lionel Messi.

They however took the lead against the run of play just 3 minutes into the second half after Saleh Alshehri equalized.

Salem Aldawsari was on ground to score the second 5 minutes later and his goal was enough to enough for a famous victory for his country.

The result sees Saudi Arabia sit at top of the group momentarily before Mexico and Poland face-off in their own fixture.

Irrespective of where Saudi Arabia finishes at the World Cup, this result will forever be etched in the memory of all football fans.
