Sao Tome and Principe captain Luis Leal has boasted his team are in Uyo to “thrash” and “humilate” the Super Eagles.

Sunday’s final group qualifier is a dead-rubber as the Super Eagles have already qualified for the 2023 AFCON, while Sao Tome will finish bottom of the group even if they won the game.

The Super Eagles are top of Group A with 12 points from five matches, they have scored 16 goals and let in only one, while Sao Tome have a point, conceded 17 goals and scored three goals.

The minnows have yet to win in the qualifying tournament.

Nigeria also created a new record of their highest international win by thumping the islanders 10-0 in Morocco last year.

However, Sao Tome are doing everything to win Sunday as they have listed only overseas-based pros for this encounter.

“We are here to thrash and humiliate the Super Eagles of Nigeria in Uyo,” boasted much-travelled striker Luis Leal, who scored a historic brace for his country against Sierra Leone in April.

“This is our World Cup final.”
