Senegal are through to the semi final of the ongoing FIBA Women Afrobasket Championship in Kigali, Rwanda.

The hospitable Lionesses from Dakar reached the last four at the expense of another Lionesses from Yaoundé in a tensed and keenly contested quarter final game on Wednesday at the BK Arena 80-77.

Cameroon started the encounter on a firing note, winning the first quarter by 8 points,19-11. before the Senegalese ladies seized the game in the second quarter 18-13.

The third quarter was where the 11 times Champions wrapped up the clash with an 8 points difference, 28-20. Cameroon fought back to take the last and final quarter 25-23 but it was too little too late as Senegal marches into the semi final 80-77.

Cierra Danay Dillard was in the a world of her own in the Senegalese roaster as she hit 29 points, 2 rebounds, 6 assists, 3 Steals and 1 block in the game.

The winner of the encounter between Mali and Guinea awaits the Senegalese in the semi final on Thursday.

Nigeria Vs Mozambique
Mali Vs Guinea
Rwanda Vs Uganda

The winner of the 2023 FIBA Women Afrobasket Championship will also represent the continent at the Olympic Games in Paris, France next year.
