Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen was involved in his 23rd Serie A goal as he set up one of the goals in Napoli’s 2-0 win at home to Atalanta.
Having seen his side suffered an unexpected 1-0 loss last Friday against Lazio, the host had the chance to re-open their 18 points gap at the top of the log following Inter Milan’s 2-1 loss at Spezia.
The host dominated the first half but failed to find the back of the net as Napoli failed to make good use of their possession and chances created.
The second half was almost a replica of the first but the breakthrough finally came at the hour mark; Osimhen found player of the month Kvaratskhelia with the Georgian having plenty to do as he turned the Atalanta defense in and out before striking powerfully into the net to make it 1-0.
The goal gave Napoli even more confidence and they doubled their thirteen minutes from time when Amir Rahmani headed home from a cover to seal a 2-0 win for the Naples-based club.
The win takes Napoli to 68 points in the log standings 18 more than second-place Inter Milan after 26 games played so far.
