Founded in 2007,Kaita FC became formidable from late 2009.
l was at the Okitipupa Government field in December 2010,When KFC massacred then State league campaigner Sarajoe 4-0 in the final of defunct Bajowa Cup.
Having finished as the third best-placed team at 2010 edition of Ondo state football league, Sarajoe had an easy ride enroute to the final.
The atmosphere was tensed at the sunny afternoon at the Okitipupa Government field.
KFC being led by the duo of Tunde Adeniji and Segun Bajowa while Sarajoe boasted of lethal Iyanu Ogunboye
Five minutes upon kickstarting KFC were a goal up,guess who scored Tunde Adeniji.
Few minutes later,the advantage was doubled via the same person after a fine effort from Segun Bajowa (Okoro).
The encounter ended 4-0 in favour of KFC with Tunde Adeniji scoring an hat-trick.
That was how devastating KFC was in their heydays.Upon his promotion to Sunshine Stars in 2011,KFC felt Tunde Adeniji needed to be replaced, having forseen the herculean tasks ahead of him.
Then came Adefeyiju Adebayo(Gabon) now plies his trade in Germany, who was a direct replacement for Tunde Adeniji.
In the Era of Gabon,the least you could expect from KFC was second placed finishing.
The era that had Adefeyiju Adebayo in the attack,Akinkurolere Matthew(Sabora) in the midfield while Amaechi(nickname) led the defense.
The era was devastating too as opponents tremble on the mentioning of KFC’s name.
Equally,the era won the maiden editions of the defunct Willy Akinlude unity Cup and Seinde Fadeni football tournament.
After first two eras,the team started declining which could be attributed to lack of successive plans.
l had expected the management of club to have formulated a well formidable academy.
l watched with amusement at the recently concluded Ondo state football league on how KFC could not progress past the first round.
As one of the keen followers of the team from inception,it was a bitter pill for me to swallow.
Femi Adedugba should be commended for conceptualizing the idea of formulating the first formidable grassroot team in Okitipupa local government.
I urge him to get an experienced helmsman for the team and formulate the team’s academy.
KFC must be reckoned with again.
