It’s the worst possible news to get in week two of preseason.
Wesley Fofana, the club’s top central defender and last summer’s £80m signing, has ruptured his ACL and will most, if not all, of this season.
Football London are backing up reports from several sources that Fofana has already had a scan on the problem and has received the bad news. We knew the 22 year old had not travelled with his teammates, but we had no idea that the issues was this serious.
Fofana’s broken leg at Leicester was nothing to do with being injury prone – he was just subject to an (quite literally) leg breaking challenge. The knee injury he picked up last October, and the setback that followed however were non-contact, and this latest devastating news not only rules him out for the season, it also makes it feel very likely that his issues are going to be chronic.
