Nigeria forward, Josh Maja has revealed the reason behind his decision to join Sky Bet Championship club, West Bromwich Albion.
Maja moved to Hawthorns on a three-year deal on Tuesday.
The 24-year-old linked up with the Baggies on a free transfer after severing ties with Ligue 1 club, Girondis Bordeaux at the end of the 2022/23 season following the expiration of his contract
The striker had offers from several clubs around Europe but instead opted to join West Brom.
Maja has moved to defend his decision and claimed a short conversation with Albion boss Carlos Corberan convinced him to join the Spaniard’s squad.
“The conversation I had with Carlos Corberán was short. I’ve only spoken to him once, but that’s probably all I needed,” he told the club’s official website.
“I got really good energy from him. He’s a serious coach with intense ideas and an intense mentality which is something that matches up with me and my values.”
