Zamalek target John Ebuka joins Al Ahli Tripoli

Libyan giants Al Ahli Tripoli have managed to beat Zamalek to the signing of Nigerian striker John Ebuka from Ceramica Cleopatra FC.

Ebuka broke into the scene during his time with ENPPI, where he scored 15 goals and provided five assists in 33 games, before completing a surprise move to Cleopatra FC.

However, Ebuka failed to replicate these performances with his new club as he found the back of the net on just three occasions in 14 games this season.

Still, Al Ahly & Zamalek have both been linked with a January move for the striker, with the Whites even becoming inches away from agreeing on a deal with Cleopatra over Ebuka.

It was even reported that Saudi club Al Ahli Jeddah kept tabs on Ebuka after he was recommended by manager Pitso Mosimane, who was impressed by the player during his time at the helm of Al Ahly.

Both Zamalek and Cleopatra agreed on the transfer fee; however, the way of payment was the issue that made the deal fall through.

Libyan giants Al Ahli Tripoli took advantage of the situation and managed to snatch the Nigerian, announcing the deal on their social media.

The fee and the type of the deal weren’t revealed, but it’s understood that the player will move to Libya on loan until the end of the season, with an option to buy.

Al Ahli currently sit third in group B of the Libyan Premier League with 15 points, eight behind leaders Al Ittihad
